Why Burbank carpets need shampooing more than most

Most soil here arrives dry. Sandy grit blows in from dry yards and unpaved alleys. It gets ground into entries and hallways, and traffic-lane graying follows. Then comes the oily half: filtration soiling, those black lines at baseboards and under doors, pulled through the pile by HVAC airflow. Ash and smoke residue after fire season adds another oily layer. Dry vacuuming alone will not lift that. Shampooing with agitation does.

Drying is fast under normal dry conditions with air movers. Marine-layer mornings slow it. Enclosed apartment interiors with no cross ventilation slow it more.
